This is the price we pay for not having any snow the end on November and 15 degrees. (celcius to my american friends). This is our version of the Santa Anna winds. We call them Chinook winds.
I heard rumors of 130 kms/hr. I would believe it. We couldn't even walk outside.
Let's start with the tree carnage. We just moved all these trees in a month ago.

The shelters took the worst of it.
All the shelters were staked down
This shelter was on the other side of the fence on the left. The fence is six feet tall. It didn't even touch the fence.

I've lived through 28 years of Santa Ana's. They can't even touch what blew through Southern Alberta last Sunday. I can't believe your brand new roof is screwed up! Ours is too but then ours is about 20 plus years old!
I am so thankful for our mesh wind fence from Wind and Sun Protection! It is 16 feet from ground up and really does dissipate the wind. Best investment we ever made and has lasted since the mid-80's. We get winds of 100k and couldn't live here without protection.
I HATE the wind.
