Public service announcement

This is my public service announcement celebrating airbags, seat belts and dodge trucks.
Remember this......

Now it looks like this

and this....

I can not tell you how happy I am that Dodge built me a good sturdy truck and that I did not have a dog in the truck at the time of this accident. Wednesday last week started off great and ended with me on a stretcher in an ambulance. No worries I will be Ok. Nothing is broken and I only have some bumps and bruises.

Oh boy has it been a long winter!!

This winter seems to be never ending. We got another foot of snow this weekend on top of the snow, ice, mud and water we already had. Makes feeding sheep and cows very interesting. This long winter has brought along with it boredom, depression, anxiety, and just a general feeling of restlessness. And what do most women do when they are having these overwhelming feelings? Go shopping. So far I bought my self this new toy. amongst other pieces of sheep handling equipment.

The other thing I am shopping for is not as easy to find. I would like a new trial dog. One I can run in Open or move up to open by the end of the season. Insert random border collie picture here.

I know what you are going to say mom "another dog!!" Here is my crazy woman winter blues reasoning. The pups won't be ready to run for at least two years, at this rate Risk may not be ready to run next year or at all if he doesn't stop trying to kill sheep. That leaves me three years of only running one dog. I know what you are all thinking "For shame Gasp!"
Not an easy task. To quote my famous friend "Just pick a winner"
So if any of my readers out there have a winner that I can take off of their hands just let me know.

Poe meet puppies, Puppies meet Poe

As part of our puppy socialization program I took the puppies with us to Jenny's and introduced them to cats, car rides, and some good old southern Alberta wind.

The sheep were having a nice relaxing week. That was until Risk deiced to show them what he is really made of.

Four weeks

Wow it is getting harder to take pics of the little hellions. As you can tell from this weeks pics I have to exhaust them before I can get some pics. I have made a halfway decision I am going to keep the brown faced boy. To be named at a later date. The jury is still out on what girl to pick.

Feeding time

I fed the pups today and they dug right in

After eating what else is there to do but Wrestle

this little man is quickly becoming my favorite

Many people have asked if all the pups are sold. The answer is yes they are. I am keeping two, a boy and a girl, one of the girls is going to some good friends and the other boy is going to another friend in Edmonton.

3 weeks old

Thank goodness for the puppies other wise I would not have very much to blog about. Mother nature has been very cruel to us this week. Started out plus 10 and snow was melting like crazy. Which also meant that my outdoor arena was under a foot of water. Bad weather rolled in Wednesday night minus 20 and 100 km/hr winds. My arena is now under a foot of ice. I had to cancel all of my lessons for awhile until mother nature figures out what she wants to do. In the meantime I have rented the arena to the local NHL hockey time to practice. Just kidding. I have a Friend with a semi bare field I am hoping to use next week to work dogs. Now what you all have been waiting for puppies pics.

From the front the girls look almost identical. The only difference is one has a big white collar. Boy 2 is the biggest of all of the pups we call him big ben.

a graduation of sorts

I spent the day in Calgary helping out with a dog trial. I dodged a bullet by not announcing. Trust me no one wants to hear my voice amplified. I came home to this.

and this

and this empty

Clearly they are trying to tell me something. So we will try it without the box for a while. Everyone is overjoyed.

Except for Isla
"What do you mean I can't get away from them anymore"

All is well in the end

I have a little insider trader tip for my readers. Invest in newspaper because apparently I am going to need a whole lot of it.
